We all want to increase traffic to our website right?
After years of working with various types of businesses, it has become quite apparent that very few take the time out to track the effectiveness of some of their key areas.
Save time posting aimlessly, spending money on sites you can’t keep updated, wasting money on ads. Here are some things to consider:
Your Website
Are people visiting our site, sending enquiries, placing orders or bookings, purchasing etc? Or is it serving as more of an online brochure?
Recommendation
Google analytics – Find out if you’re receiving visitors, where theyre coming from and what they’re doing on your site. Website traffic doesn’t always mean more customers or clients.
Visit www.woorank.com – See how your site ranks from an SEO perspective and send the results onto your developer to fix the basic issues.
Social Media
Social Media is a great avenue for attracting more traffic to your website.
Which posts have received the most engagement, clicks, views, saves? Are new people finding our profile/page? Are they clicking through to our website? Do people know where you are and what you do? Is your social media page fulfilling its job?
Recommendation
Insights, insights, insights – Use this information to tweak your content. Make your most engaging posts easy to find so this can be used to replicate content. Good content increases the chance of your audience taking action.
The competition – See what’s working for your local competitors and test it with your audience. You can see if their website is getting traffic through various tools.
Page optimization – Seek feedback. Ask your own followers what they think. Ask for an audit from a professional.
Google My Business Listing
Many of my clients have had great success with increasing their website traffic through posting good content and pictures to their Google My Business page.
Is your page a good reflection of our business? Are people seeing our posts? Are we even posting to our Google My Business page? How do we measure up in comparison to our competitors?
Recommendation
Google My Business app – View report (1 week/month/quarter) and check the ‘total actions’ which include views in maps, searches, directions, website clicks. Download my Google My Business Checklist HERE. You can quickly see if your efforts have resulted in an increase in traffic or more phone calls.
Ads
Ads are a much quicker way of increasing traffic but there are many things you need to have in place before throwing money at ads. Before running ads, consider what action you want people to take. Think about the journey of the recipient of those ads. Is the destination of that ad a website that doesn’t convey the message you’re trying to communicate? There’s no point driving traffic to a page/site that doesn’t convert so this topic needs to be approached with caution.
Recommendation
Contact someone who has experience running ads. Learning how to do this yourself can be a costly and timely process. If you opt to learn this topic, stick with one platform and master it. This can take months so patience is key.
